From the Field to the Future
Impactful Mentorship.
“What we do with SCORE isn’t something we take lightly. Through this program, we’re changing the lives of kids. What starts as simply playing sports turns into learning lessons that will stick with them for life. When it comes to making a positive impact on these kids, SCORE pulls out all the stops and does so in a way that’s fun and engaging.
For me, SCORE isn’t just playing sports in an after-school program with kiddos- it’s an opportunity to give back and teach them good skills and values for the future.”
— Tom Mesa, head coach at UT Austin
Consistent Investment.
“My experience with SCORE has been nothing short of incredible. I joined SCORE because I wanted a chance to give back to the Austin community, and I loved the idea of playing sports with kids after school. However, I didn’t anticipate to be coaching the amazing, hilarious, outgoing group of children who were in my school. Seeing the children bubbling with excitement as the coaches explain a new activity is my favorite part of SCORE, not to mention the caring, dedicated volunteers I work with.
For me, SCORE doesn’t even feel like community service; it’s a treat to spend time mentoring Austin’s youth. Giving the children an opportunity to engage in team building and participate in sports games is a truly rewarding experience, and I am so happy to be a part of SCORE.”
— Camila Chabayta, coach at UT Austin
Giving Back.
“I knew SCORE was the perfect organization for me to be a part of because sports and volunteering are two things that I hold near and dear to my heart. After spending multiple weeks with these kids, it’s more fun and rewarding than I ever could’ve imagined. Having the privilege to teach these kids something the other coaches and I are so passionate about and seeing them have a blast with one another is definitely worthwhile.”
— Breanna Martinez, coach at UT Austin
“SCORE has been an absolute blast so far. It’s a great way to give back to the community and interact with kids through a fun and encouraging way.”
— Bryce Kornblau, coach at UT Austin
